More Than 13,000 .SI Domains Registered in 24 Hours
The scale of the current .si domain rush is remarkable.
Before the current surge, Register.si recorded 3,515 new domains during the whole of August 2026.
Following the growing attention around Super Intelligence, registrations accelerated dramatically.
By October 1, industry analysis citing Register.si statistics reported approximately 13,603 new .si registrations within the preceding 24 hours.
That means several times as many .si domains were being registered in a single day as had previously been registered during an entire month.
September ultimately recorded approximately 46,066 new .si registrations.
For a country code extension that previously experienced comparatively modest registration volumes, this represents an extraordinary change in demand.
Why Are So Many People Buying .SI Domains?
The answer comes down to two letters:
SI
.si officially represents Slovenia.
But those same two letters have suddenly acquired another potentially important technology interpretation:
SI = Super Intelligence
President Donald Trump used the term Super Intelligence during his September 22 address to the United Nations.
On September 29, he signed an executive order directing the U.S. executive branch to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in applicable government communications.
That immediately created an interesting parallel:
.ai = Artificial Intelligence
.si = Super Intelligence
Importantly, .si has not officially changed its meaning. It remains Slovenia's country code domain.
The new interpretation is a branding and technology association created by the letters SI.
But a domain investor would understand the importance of terminology.
And they moved quickly.
.SI Registrations Have Even Outpaced .AI
The scale of speculation became particularly apparent during the days following the announcement.
Industry analysis based on DomainNameStat data found 17,621 new .si registrations between September 23 and September 29, compared with approximately 7,209 .ai registrations during the same period.
That meant .si registrations were running at approximately 2.4 times the number of .ai registrations during that measured period.
Nobody yet knows whether this level of demand will continue.
But the initial reaction from the domain investment community has been extraordinary.

Many of the most obvious domains disappeared quickly.

Technology keywords.
